Leigh Traffic Reduction Scheme

The way people view roads is changing. As part of the Bee Network, there's more being done to support the need for improved safety and cleaner air, especially at a local, residential level.

The Leigh scheme aims to improve road safety by providing more crossings and junction improvements and create safer, more welcoming spaces outside the schools at peak times.

As well as improving road safety, the aim is also to improve air quality in this area by making it easier for people to walk more for shorter journeys and create more public realm space where people can enjoy spending time outdoors safely.

In March 2023 we asked you to provide your views on some of the designs proposed to try and alleviate traffic issues in the area and you gave us lots of feedback which has helped to shape the latest scheme proposals.

Thank you to everyone who got involved and took the time to share their views!

  • You can view the latest proposals for your neighbourhood and see the changes that have been made after listening to your feedback.
  • You can view technical detailed plans for the latest proposals.
  • You can share your views and feedback on the latest plans.
  • You can influence other possible changes to your streets. Tell us which streets need improving and give us your suggestions. For example, tell us about any suitable places for plants and trees, where dropped kerbs are needed, or any uneven pavement surfaces that need sorting.
  • You can learn more about what we've done so far, next steps and find answers to your questions with our helpful FAQs.
