Wigan Council has now acquired the vacant pub and is currently in the process of appointing a contractor to demolish the building. A further update will be given in the new year and the completion of the demolition is expected by March 2024 to make way for the new homes.

This is good news in my eyes.The derelict pub ie Engineers Arms has stood decaying/derelict for many years.Roof slates have slipped off on a few occasions and that could have caused serious injury to passers by.
So demolition of this eyesore is welcome news.
Redevelopement of the land at the side of the derelict pub will also improve the area..
