Repair and maintain existing footpaths especially those on disused railway lines

I live near the site of Hindley Green railway station which was closed in the 1960s.
Over 20 years ago this was made into a decent footpath/cycle track. It is still listed as part of the national cycle route.
However, after years of neglect and use by motorbikes, this is now either overgrown or so full of ruts it is necessary for walkers and cyclists to use the road from Leigh Road to Hindley.
Repair this path please. Lots of local people will use it once it stops flooding after a shower. It used to be possible to take pushchairs along this track. But again due to lack of maintenance and use by motorbikes, many members of the community are prevented from using a path which takes them away from roads and into nature. Our roads are so choked with traffic, all of the community suffers from breathing toxic fumes
especially children on their way to and from school. This must affect their lungs!!
The path is already there. It needs repair and maintaining.
Imagine if local people could use these paths instead of jumping into their cars!!
