Protected Cycle Lane on Park Road / Woodhouse Lane

Victoria Finch•3 years ago Woodhouse Lane, Park Road and Frog Lane are a major roads into town from Wigan West, but are entirely unsafe for cyclists. Someone was knocked off their bike on Frog Lane this year. Cycle lanes could alleviate many of these very short town centre journeys currently taken by car. I sometimes use the pavement but that's full of cars and often is too thin, so I mostly don't bother.

Pedestrian Crossing at Springfield junction

Victoria Finch•3 years ago I know this is on the plan for improving by TGFM but it has been delayed so often, I'm unsure if it's still going ahead. A proper pedestrian crossing is desperately needed where the 4 roads meet (Park Road, Woodhouse Lane, Frog Lane, Springfield Road). It is unsafe to cross currently. You have to run while one of of cars is on a red light, just before others move. It's not enough time and cars are constantly running through red lights. I can't teach my kids how to cross thos safely on their own.

Speed bumps

Victoria Finch•3 years ago More speed bumps or proper traffic measures on Springfield Road and Gidlow Lane. Very few cars respect the 20mph and crossing the road is a nightmare. There have been a number of car accidents. It makes it very off putting

Trees in Wigan West

Victoria Finch•3 years ago Most of the streets in Wigan West aren't tree lined, and it's noticeable with these very hot summers. Woodhouse Lane, just as 1 example, is completely exposed and scorching hot in summer, as it's such a high ratio of concrete. Some additional street trees would add shade and cooling.
