Briar Grove, Leigh

Potential Future Redevelopment – Land at Briar Grove, Leigh

Housing Context

Across the country and here in Wigan borough there is unprecedented and growing demand for affordable housing. Wigan Council’s Housing Register has more than doubled over the last few years to about 15,000 applicants.

Through our new build housing programme, we are working proactively to deliver sustainable, affordable homes, in line with current and future housing legislation, and the need to play our part in tackling climate change.

Briar Grove

The council actively manages its land and property to ensure that it is used to best effect to meet local priorities; including delivering much-needed good quality, affordable homes and the land at Briar Grove, Leigh has been identified as a potential site for a small development of new homes.

Proposals

We are looking to develop 10 high quality and energy efficient houses (a range of 2, 3 and 4 bed) on the site for affordable rent. The homes will be let to families on the housing register to meet local housing needs and all the homes will be owned and managed by Wigan Council.
