Wigan Council Housing Repairs Policy - Consultation 2025
We are inviting you to take part in a consultation on our proposed Housing Repairs and Maintenance Policy.
The policy sets out the Council’s approach to providing repair and maintenance services, and how we intend to deliver effective, timely, and high-quality repairs for Council homes and other homes we manage. The policy outlines the scope and responsibilities of these repair and maintenance services, and sets a clear standard for what our tenants and leaseholders should expect from us in ensuring that homes are kept to a safe and decent standard.
Your feedback is vital. We are especially keen to hear from our tenants and leaseholders, whose lived experiences of our repair and maintenance services are central to shaping a policy which reflects the needs of our tenants, our leaseholders, and our estates. The consultation is also open to anyone who wants to have their say or who is interested in the Council’s policy governing how we deliver these services. We also welcome responses from any interested organisations who can provide us with their insight into how our policy can support and respect the needs and interests of the people they represent with respect to our housing repair and maintenance services.
A copy of our current draft policy is available below.
This consultation is open for 8 weeks, starting from 01/08/2025 and closing at 23:59 on 25/09/2025, after which time no further submissions will be accepted.
The consultation will ask a range of questions about repairs services and our new draft policy, and are intended to get a wide array of useful information we can use to inform the final version of the policy.
Questions will be of mixed formats, with some asking for ratings, and others asking for written feedback about the particular question posed. There are very few mandatory questions in the consultation survey. Opportunity will also be provided to provide general or other feedback.
You do not need to provide your name or address to participate in the consultation and your responses will not be attributed to you in any way, unless you are responding in a professional capacity. However, if you wish to provide your name and contact details for any of the reasons provided in Section 10 (to find out more about the Council's Tenant Voice team), then that personal information will be retained until you advise us otherwise. Please note also that the Go Vocal platform that hosts Council consultations will require some personal data for your registration on that platform. The use of your personal data for these purposes is detailed in the Go Vocal Privacy Policy.
A document containing a list of all the consultation questions is also available for you to download below. If instead of using this online survey you wish to submit your responses to these consultation questions by letter or email, you can do so by sending these to: TVT@wigan.gov.uk.
This is your opportunity to shape how housing repairs and maintenance works are delivered – so please have your say.
If you have any questions about this consultation, please contact us at: TVT@wigan.gov.uk.
