Consultation - phase one

1 February 2023 - 31 March 2023

FEBRUARY

On Friday 17th February we also launched the end of term Daily Mile in partnership with Sacred Heart and Leigh Central Primary Schools, and the Leigh Neighbours Project.

  • The Daily Mile is a fully-inclusive, free and simple initiative which improves the physical and mental health of children. It’s a social activity where the children run or jog, at their own pace, for 15 minutes and it improves focus in the classroom.

Sacred Heart’s full school (including all staff) and 15 pupils and staff from Leigh Central took part in the Daily Mile around the streets of Leigh West.

Over 260 children and teachers took part in the end of term celebration.

MARCH

In March 2023 we launched the first phase of consultation for a 3-week consultation period.

The aim of the consultation was to share proposals for the modal filter trials and invite feedback.

We also supported Leigh Neighbours Project Bike Library re-launch at Leigh Youth Hub as the weather started to warm up .

  • The bike library does what it says on the tin! You can loan bikes, helmets, locks and other cycling equipment absolutely FREE of charge for up to one month at a time.
  • A fleet of more than 25 bikes are available in a range of sizes for adults and children.
  • The library also includes free monthly Dr Bike sessions, led walks & rides, cycle skills sessions and maintenance courses.
  • The library opens on the first Saturday of each month and Monday evenings during the summer.
