Our future Ashton survey - Business/Workers

Exciting plans for Ashton Town Centre and why we need to hear from you now!

The Government have awarded Ashton-In-Makerfield £6.6 million to regenerate the town centre.

As part of the terms of this funding, Wigan Council has a responsibility to ask businesses, visitors and residents of Ashton town centre some specific questions.

By completing this short survey you will have played a vital role in ensuring we are listening to everyone at every step of the process in this huge project.

We are asking people who own/manage/work in businesses, like yours, what you think about the town centre now, as well as questions about safety, whether there is community spirit, whether there is room for improvement etc. It’s really important that before we start work on the town centre, we understand how you feel and what you think now.

#OurFutureAshton Businesses Survey - Update

9 September 2024 - 9 October 2024

A baseline perceptions survey was undertaken to help us gather this information. The survey was live online for six weeks earlier in the year. We surveyed businesses/workers, residents, visitors, and shoppers as well as young people. Feedback was gathered about how people think/feel about Ashton now, before work begins on the different parts of the project. The survey will be repeated after all the work has completed, to find out how much the perceptions have changed.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part in the survey, we received a total of 1,517 responses in total across the three surveys. which included 58 responses from Businesses/Workers in Ashton.

As well as being used to evaluate the success of the project, the information collected will also be used to help inform work on the project over the coming months.
