West Wigan Engagement

The council has been lucky enough to receive some external funding* to explore ideas which could improve cycling and walking within the West of Wigan area.

The aim of this work is to improve and encourage active travel in the West of Wigan and create connections to existing infrastructure, employment, retail, and other amenities.

Have Your Say!

We asked for your ideas on how we could improve and encourage cycling and walking in your neighbourhood, for example:

·      What (if anything) prevents you from walking or cycling short journeys?

·      What would encourage you to walk or cycle more in your area? New crossing points? Wider pavements? Or something else?

Your views will now inform a set of options for improvements. We intend to consult further on these options later in the year, so please watch out for further updates. Your ideas will then be used as a basis for future funding bids to deliver these improvements.

We would like to thank you for adding your feedback to the interactive map below.

This map shows the target area for this consultation (highlighted blue).

Use the interactive map below to provide comments on what you would like to see happen in West of Wigan neighbourhoods!

This could include crossing points, widening pavements, seating, landscaping etc...

Like someone else's idea? Interact with other comments on the map to show us which ideas really stand out to you.

We will review all responses once consultation closes and the feedback provided will be used to develop possible interventions in the West Wigan area. Further consultation on this will be carried out later in the year.
